Day 1: Landing in Seattle! March 29, 2023

"When your children leave home, you don't have to be sad, because you realize there are just more adventures to be had." - woman at the train platform
We shared about our children and how they give us more opportunity to learn and grow - and just more adventures to have. Meeting with her was like an outside layer of the matryoshka doll, with the next inner layer being in Seattle for a day, with the core being the next 4 days that I'll attend the Moving Trans History Forward Conference.
For today, I visited the Chihuly Museum and thoroughly enjoyed the glassblowing demonstration and all the art.

Dale Chihuly explained in the videos that his best work is created by letting inspiration move through his body. When he thinks too much or gets too much in his brain is not when he most enjoys making art. And then tonight, my youngest child brought up to me exactly this same topic, about being in one's body and seeing the value of that! Synchronicity.
I also liked how Chihuly talks about how he responds to the environment around him, so I'm including a video to be able to show a little more how the glass is in relation to the other space or objects around it. It reminds me of my responsiveness to my children, or to others around me. We are interconnected.
To come full circle for today, here is a picture of the bookstore across the street from my hostel, with an impressive display of books all about transgender topics! There were actually two windows full of trans-oriented titles. Yes, I bought two.

Tomorrow begins the Moving Trans History Forward 2023 conference. My intentions are to move intuitively, make friends, learn and take lots of notes, and network. More on Day 2!
